This Thanksgiving Focus On Your Blessings

I know you see these cheesy articles each year and the focus of this article should really be a daily thing. However, if you are anything like my family, it is sometimes a struggle just to find time to look for or notice a blessing in the day-to-day stresses of life.
Just this morning alone, I stepped out of the shower to a child screaming in her crib only to find her standing in a puddle of diarrhea. After getting her cleaned, I find myself waiting in the carpool line to drop off my son, having him refusing to kiss me goodbye because he is embarrassed. He is six. When did he grow up? Only to nervously drive away as a police man follows me and my car is doing a strange jumping thing. Then rush to church to see if my purse was found because I left it yesterday. All before 9 a.m. So I completely understand the difficulty in finding blessings. So I am taking this time out of my day normally spent writing an award-winning piece (ok, I am daydreaming) to focus and remind myself of my blessings. In turn, I hope I allow you the opportunity to think of your own blessings in your life. Here they are in no particular order.
My husband and I will celebrate our 8th anniversary this month. I know I am who I am today because of him. I remember the day we met, he was so full of life. That hasn’t changed. My husband is a great provider, helper, best friend, spiritual leader, talented designer and singer, father, teacher, hard worker, and I could go on and on. I am thankful for him. Especially on days like today when I have an over active gag reflex and the kids need cleaned. :) I am thankful to have him to wake up to every day.
My Kids
Both my kids were truly gifts from God. Despite having a week of sickness and stubbornness, it is still easy to Thank God daily for them. My son and daughter both have the most amazing giggle and belly laughs. I am thankful for that! I am thankful for their personalities as the little individuals that they are. I am thankful to hear their voices, thoughts, needs and wants every day.
My Church
My church has helped us so many times when we were in need. Including one year right before Christmas my husband lost his job. My daughter was just born and just got home from the NICU. If it was not for the different people at our church, we would not have had a Christmas at all. I am thankful to be a member of such an amazing, caring, exciting church every day.
My Friends
I can’t tell you how thankful I am of our friends. I can honestly say I remember a time when we did not have too many, least of all, any this close. We are truly blessed from our friendships. We have an amazing small group, which has truly been instrumental in our lives. We have friends who we can call on in times of need, in times of prayer or just some great conversations and fun. Just to have someone to go out and eat with and share conversation is so nice. I am so blessed because of that. I am thankful to have someone to share our lives with every day.
My Extended Family
I have great in-laws on both sides of my family. I enjoy seeing my brother happy, my nephews and niece growing and getting into everything. I enjoy seeing my brother-in-laws mature and make something out of their lives. I love seeing my dad and husband’s parents turn into grandparents. I can honestly say we have a family that takes care of us. We have great cooks, great athletes, great prayers, great people. I am thankful every day for their support.
My God
I am thankful for a God who shows me grace daily. A God that loves me despite who I am or what I have done. A God who was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for my life. A God that provides all of my needs. I am thankful for that every day!
Yes, my list could go on and on. This was also a lot easier than I thought it would be. Of course, Dora is only so long a show and then my two-year-old is going crazy. I invite you to include something you are blessed by as well in the comments. Maybe we can have a ton of blessings to pass on to the next reader.
