Child Prodigy Evan O'Dorney wins National Spelling Bee

The most amazing thing about the 2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee wasn’t the amount of knowledge on the stage, being on primetime television, the prizes, the cool features on the kids or even the famous sport announcers doing their best at announcing a spelling bee.
Instead it was the realization that child prodigies do still exist. When 13-year-old Evan O'Dorney won the Bee, my heart jumped. A kid who does not even like spelling took home the trophy by correctly spelling the word serrefine.
However, O’Dorney wowed those watching and in the audience with more than just his ability to spell, making it obvious there was more to this kid than brains (although that was pretty obvious).
He lit up America with his cute personality and his sense of humor. But why the prodigy label by this writer? Because he has it all-brains, sense of humor, personality and so many talents.
His mom stated that his music has an impact on many. It was amazing to watch him compose music in his head then transfer it to the piano and computer. The kid is just as talented and knowledgeable in math and music as spelling, if not more so.
Child prodigies do exist!
