Barry Bonds Now Stands Alone

By now you have seen it all over the news, Barry Bonds has passed Hank Aaron for most homeruns hit when he hit his 756 homerun. This should be a story of celebrations, a story of accolades and excitement.
Unfortunately, with the homerun has come some really strong responses from baseball fans all over and none of them seem to be in reverence for Bonds. According to an ESPN online poll, the majority of Americans did not want Bonds to break Hammerin Aaron's record.
Bonds has destroyed the integrity of baseball. Some say it was Major League Baseball's own fault for not cracking down on steroids sooner or turning their head. I think it comes down to the respect of the game and the integrity of the individual. Neither of which Bonds possessed.
There are a lot of players today who are excellent role models, talented players and still break records. It was a personal choice by Bonds. Over 80 percent of the people polled on the site believed Bonds used steroids. Something he himself admitted to just that he did it "unknowingly." As if!
Hank Aaron himself showed classic integrity and sent a video tape congrats to Bonds. Although, sources indicated that the video seemed very insincere. He knows what type of person Bonds is. Commissioner Bud Selig missed the game which says enough.
Bonds has tainted the game and Aaron's record. Today is a sad day in baseball history! Our only hope now is that as the months move forward, we learn more from the grand jury investigation on Bonds.
As well as, the Hall of Fame nomination. It is my hope since Bonds has turned down requests to donate items to the Hall of Fame, that those in charge will see how disrespectful he is of the game and not nominate him.
Hopefully, though, years down the road this will be a mute point. Can we say keep hitting the homeruns Alex Rodriguez?

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)Hank Arron went though a hard time when he broke Ruths record. Not only was he a black man he was going to break the most beloved figure in basballs alltime record. He did that with dignity and honor and without question. Only God and Mr. Bonds knows the real truth. If he has used something to enhance performance then he will carry that to the grave unless he admits and clears it from his soul, if it is even warrented? If he did such and it doesn't matter to him then only God can judge him. I don't know if that is sin or not or how much of a sin? The fact is there is doubt and that alone places a stain that will never go away, rightly or wronglya nd it not only passes to him but sadly onto his family. What a shame. There is nothing that can replace a mans word and his honor. Best wishes. Thanks for commenting!
Stephany, once again you have hit the nail square on the head. Babe Ruth was indeed a great hitter, there is no one that I know who will deny that. But Hank Aaron is a man alone in my book. Quiet and unassuming, and it is such a shame to see this wonderful person and, in my view, the best home run hitter yet, be out distanced by steroids and an arrogant show-off. Did you ever see Hank Aaron slap a ball in mid air to try and show how wonderfully he had control of a left field fly ball? Did you ever see Barry Bonds take a flying belly-busting leap to snag a win or lose ball as Andruw Jones does? Bonds excelled in nothing except arrogance in my opinion. What a great perspective! I never thought about it from that angle! Unfortunately, I missed out on seeing Aaron during his glory days, but have seen the footage. It is a shame that is overlooked! Thanks so much for commenting! It really added a lot to the article!
